Our mission is to promote literacy and instill a love of reading in children within their own apartment communities in Houston, TX.
Our program inspires elementary children to become lifelong learners, readers and leaders. Through generous donations and grants, we furnish colorful and inviting learning spaces in disadvantaged apartment communities. We provide volunteers who read to and with children at our locations. Currently, we serve underprivileged children in 5 different apartment communities in the Spring Branch area of Houston, TX.
Through our organization, children learn and advance their reading skills, which opens up countless opportunities for them in the future. We strive to equip today’s readers with the tools to become tomorrow’s leaders.

We began The Kids’ Reading Room as a solution to a widespread problem: the many children who struggle with reading or cannot read.
Some of these children have parents who do not speak English and may struggle teaching their children how to read English at home. Some of these children may struggle with reading in school and, without the right support systems in place, they fall through the cracks.
At the Kids’ Reading Room, we believe that all children should have free access to books and equal reading opportunities, regardless of economic status. Although reading does allow children to experience new and exciting adventures; it’s more than that. Reading provides the foundation for all other learning opportunities in the future. After all, “A book a day brings opportunities their way!”
