MEET OUR BOARD

Picture
Patricia Schappell, Founder and Chair
Trish Schappell volunteers and is responsible for the overall direction of The Kids’ Reading Room. After attending ABYDOS Reading Week in 2013, Schappell realized there was a need for all students to have access to books in order to learn to read. This realization has flourished into The Kids Reading Room, which changes lives every day. Schappell has worked in education over 26 years as a teacher, administrator and instructional specialist. Presently, she is a middle school counselor in Spring Branch ISD.

Besides volunteering with The Kids' Reading Room for the past four years, Michelle volunteers with several other organizations working with children. She is a Docent at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston leading weekly tours for Houston-area third graders and a mentor at Yellowstone Academy and Small Steps Nurturing Center. Analisa Cantu, Marketing Advisor
Analisa began volunteering with The Kids' Reading Room in 2019. As the daughter of two educators', she had a front row seat to the impact that equitable access to learning can have on a child's future. She's worked with brands on every coast, and now runs her own remote consultancy out of Houston. When she's not doing fun things on the internet for her clients... she fosters dogs through Houston Pets Alive! ("This is the last one!" she says every other week), tries to return her library books on time, and enjoys exploring all that Houston has to offer.
