Our volunteers make the work we do at The Kids’ Reading Room possible! They encourage and motivate students to read, build mentor relationships, and most of all, they make sure everyone has fun reading. It only takes one person to change a child’s path forever in a positive way. Is that one person you?

NOTE: A background check is required to volunteer.
Note: All volunteer readers are required to be able to lift 20 lbs, move around the room to monitor numerous students, and complete light administrative duties.

One of the best moments I’ve had in the Reading Room was when a 3rd grade girl brought in her much younger brother. She began reading to him out of a book that was in Spanish. Later, she chose a book that was in English. She read through the book and then began translating it for him page-by-page. It was amazing!”
